Norman Cousins Memorial Lecture for 2009

The PNIRS is seeking applications for the Normal Cousins Memorial Lecture Award for 2009.  The PNIRS will present this award during its 2009 meeting to an established, senior investigator for outstanding contributions in basic or clinical research in psychoneuroimmunology. This award consists of a formal lecture to the membership of the Society, an expense-paid trip to the annual meeting, waiver of registration fees and a $1,000 honorarium. The Norman Cousins international lectureship is funded by an endowment maintained by the PNIRS. This award will be presented at the annual meeting. The following distinguished scholars have been honored by this award, and the PNIRS invites your nominations to add to this list of highly-respected scientists:

NOMINATION PROCEDURES:  The complete application must be submitted as one file and should consist of: (a) A nomination letter by a Full Member of the PNIRS. (b) A complete curriculum vitae. (c) A statement from the nominating member, not to exceed 500 words, that highlights significant research accomplishments. The lecturer is expected to deliver the Norman Cousins Memorial Lecture at the 2009 annual meeting and to submit a manuscript for publication in Brain, Behavior and Immunity, the peer-reviewed, official journal of the PNIRS.

The name of the successful candidate will be announced at the 2008 meeting in Madison.
