Page 7 of 11 ARTICLE VII - Committees Section 7.1. Membership Committee. This committee shall consist of the President-Elect who shall serve as the Chair, two Council members appointed by the President with the mutual consent of these Council members, and two appointed members of The Society. One member is appointed each year by the President to serve for a period of two years. The duties of the Membership Committee are outlined in Article III. Section 7.2. Scientific Affairs Committee. The Society shall hold a Scientific Meeting at least biannually. In addition, small workshops, symposia, or special courses may be held. The Scientific Affairs Committee shall be responsible for the scientific content and quality of the meeting. The Scientific Affairs Committee will be appointed by the President in consultation with the President-Elect and Secretary/Treasurer, and will be composed of two subcommittees: the Program Committee and the Local Arrangements Committee. The Program Committee will consist of the President as Chairman of the Committee, the President-Elect, Secretary/Treasurer and at least six members, of which two shall be members of the Council. The Local Arrangements Committee will consist of individuals at the host site who will be responsible for all aspects of the meeting Section 7.3. Nominating Committee. This Committee shall consist of six members appointed by the President, each of whom shall serve for three years, two new appointments being made each year. The immediate Past-President shall Chair the Nominating Committee. Otherwise, committee members may not concurrently serve on the Council of The Society. Section 7.4. Constitution and By-Laws Committee. This Committee will consist of the Past President, who shall serve as the Chair, the President and President-Elect. Section 7.5. Other Committees. The President and President-Elect may appoint, subject to Council approval, other ad hoc Committees as it may be deemed advisable, with such membership, duration functions and authority as may be delegated to it, or prescribed for it. Section 7.6. Committee Procedures. Except as otherwise provided in these Bylaws, a majority of a committee shall constitute a quorum thereof, and the acts of the majority of those present at a meeting at which a quorum is present, shall be the acts of the committee. Meetings of each committee shall be called by the Chair of the committee. Each committee shall render such reports at such time as the Council may require. All committees will be representative of the membership of The Society. Section 7.7. Historian. The Historian, appointed by Council, will serve as the reference source for all past practices and policies of The Society since its inception and will be responsible for collecting, storing and organizing all available archives of The Society. Upon completion of their terms of office, elected officers will make available to the Historian for permanent filing, all available minutes, financial records, relevant correspondence and other relevant data and policy statements developed during their tenure. At the pleasure of the Council, the Historian will be responsible for establishing a narrative written record of the deliberations of The Society and of the various stages of its evolution since the beginning of The Society in 1993. Biographical data and other information regarding all Officers and Council who have served The Society since it inception, including photographs, will be part of the permanent record of The Society. |
