Message from the PNIRS President - 2020 Meeting

Dear PNIRS community,

The PNIRS Executive Committee has been closely monitoring the situation with the novel coronavirus and its potential impact on our upcoming meeting, currently scheduled for June 3-6 in Los Angeles, CA.  With support of our Board of Directors, we have now made the difficult decision to cancel the meeting.  Given the growing number of institutions that are implementing travel bans, as well as bans on public gatherings, we felt that cancelling sooner rather than later would cause the least disruption to our members and meeting attendees.

We are of course very disappointed that we will not have the opportunity to gather this year to hear about exciting new developments in PNI and connect with colleagues and friends.  I want to acknowledge the Scientific Affairs Committee for the time and energy they have devoted to meeting planning, and also to thank all of the presenters who had agreed to come and share their work at the meeting.

For many of us, registering for the annual meeting is a reminder to renew our PNIRS membership.  I want to strongly encourage all members to renew their membership for the current year if they have not already done so.  The society relies on member support for our continued operation, and this year is no exception.  For those who have already registered, we will be refunding full registration fees in the next few weeks.  Please contact the hotel directly to cancel any room reservations.

Thank for you for continued support of the PNIRS, we look forward to seeing everyone at the meeting in 2021!

Best wishes,

Julie Bower
